Year 2 - Saltburn

Y2 visited Saltburn on Wednesday 13th July as part of their History work comparing seasides past and present.  They began by looking at the bandstand before walking through the Valley Gardens where they caught the steam train on the miniature railway.  Next, they enjoyed a picnic lunch by the river before heading to the beach.  Whilst digging in the sand, they discovered a buried tin which contained many old fashioned items, such as wooden toys, a well-loved teddy bear, photographs and a letter written in 1905.  The letter described a child's seaside holiday and the children were amazed to discover all the traditional seaside activities that they'd leant about, such as Punch and Judy and hokey pokey ice-creams mentioned.  Finally, they rode the cliff lift back up to the top whilst enjoying the views and Victorian craftsmanship.

Year 1 - Saltholme

Year 1 have had a fun and interesting time at Saltholme this week. We hunted for mini beasts, plants and did some pond dipping too! We collected lots of different creatures, investigated their features and learned their names. We discovered lots of new information about wildlife and were very sensible outside of school.

FS2 Wedding

FS2 had an amazing time at our role play wedding. We all walked to Normanby Methodist Church where the vicar led a super role play ceremony. We all sang in church as Mr Musgrave played the organ. The bride and groom drove back to school in Mrs May's impressive car with the roof down. Afterwards we all had a party and a dance. We had a great day!

FS1 - Celebrating the Queen!

FS1 have been celebrating the Queen's 90th birthday. We have set up our own Buckingham Palace in Nursery  for the children to play in. We have drawn and painted portraits of her Majesty after looking closely at a picture of her. The children's portraits are amazing.

Year 6 Residential

Last week we spent a fantastic time at Keswick in the Lake District on our Y6 residential.  The children undertook a range of amazing activities like mountain biking, gorge walking (where we leapt off the top of waterfalls) and canoeing out to an island in the middle of Derwent water where we spent the night under the stars.  All of the children demonstrated great skills that they had developed since January through the Zenith Leisure sessions in school and best of all - the sun shone all week!

Year 5 - The Queen's Birthday Celebrations!

Year 5, and all the other year groups at Normanby Primary School,  had had lots of fun on Friday celebrating the Queen's 90th birthday!  Mrs Armstrong (Global Education Leader) made sure that everyone in school had lots of delicious party food, flags, bunting and activities to celebrate the event and make it memorable for everyone involved!  The children were encouraged to wear red, white and blue and looked fantastic!
