Year 3 - Australia

Year 3 have been researching about the land of Australia.

We read a fictional newspaper report about a newly discovered set of bones found in the outback and used our knowledge from our Dinosaur research to create a new animal that could have lived in Australia. We wrote notes which we turned into a non-chronological report and then created a poster to advertise the exhibit.

We have watched Steve Irwin capturing crocodiles and discussed why conservation of crocodiles is important. We used the iPads to record hot-seating and interviewed each other acting as crocodile hunters. We used a senses chart to generate strong descriptions which we then used in writing a crocodile hunter's diary.

Year 2 - Young Writers' Mini Adventures Competition

Year 2 children recently took part in a Young Writers' Mini Adventures competition. The children worked extremely hard and were excited to take part. They produced stories using their creativitiy and imagination. Here are some of our winners' stories, all typed up and ready for publication, along with their certificates for their talent.

Each child's story has been selected for publication in a 'Mini Adventures' book which we will receive in school before the end of the summer term.

Overall, Year 2 had 52 winners!!! We are extremely proud of them all!

Feelgood Friday Newsletter 10/05/13

Year 1 - The Three Billy Goats Gruff

In year 1 we have been reading the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We wrote descriptions of the Troll and the Billy Goats.  We wrote wanted posters to hunt down the Troll and stuck them around school. We wrote letters to him asking if we could cross the bridge.  Some children sequenced the story and some children drew story maps. Then we wrote our own story of The Billy Goats Gruff using Pie Corbett.

FS2 - Dinosaurs

FS2 have been doing some lovely writing all about our dinosaurs topic! We've been labelling parts of our favourite dinosaurs and writing sentences about what might hatch out of our eggs! Examples from Lucy Hatcher, Harriet Wood and Emilie Mullen.

Everday FS2 Teachers ask children a question and children answer by writing their answer on a speech bubble.

Also, the FS2 Build a bears have started to choose some boys and girls to go home with for a couple of nights and children have been writing a little bit in their books, sharing what they've done at home with the bears.
