Year 1 - Traditional Stories

Year One have been learning all about different Traditional Stories.  Over the last few weeks we have been reading Little Red Riding Hood.  The children have been writing letters to Little Red Riding Hood, and describing the good and bad characters using lots of great adjectives.

Below is writing from Emilia McCollum, Lily Alderson, Theo Spencer, Eva Taylor and Emilia Preston.

FS1 - The Gruffalo

FS1 (Nursery children) have started work on The Gruffalo, a fantastic rhyming story by Julia Donaldson. So in Literacy, the children are learning to identify words which rhyme.

Our rhyming words song is to the tune of The Farmer's in his Den!
The cat sat on a mat, the cat sat on a mat.
Let's sing it all again; the cat sat on a mat.

The pet I met is wet, the pet I met is wet.
Let's sing it all again; the pet I met is wet

Year 5 - Mining

Following our guided walk led by local film maker Craig Hornby, the Y5 children have been writing letters to express their appreciation.

In Maths, we have been applying the 'bus stop' method for division to word problems.  This week, the children worked outside in the allotment area on practical problems to for area and perimeter.
