Year 3 - Segedunum
We had a fantastic day at Segedunum Roman Fort consolidating our knowledge about the Romans. We participated in a workshop about life as a Roman soldier, we practised marching, tried on armour and learnt an oath. We explored the remains of the barracks and even sat on replica Roman toilets!

Year 5 - Norman Cornish
This week, the children in Y5 have been learning about Norman Cornish, who became famously known as one of the 'Pitmen Painters'. Norman was born into coal mining in the pit village of Spennymoor but, in later years, pursued his dream of becoming an artist. The children really appreciated his work and enjoyed exploring photography and creating their own pastel pieces in the style of Norman Cornish. Miss Alderson's whippet 'Madge' even visited school to take part in the photo shoots as lots of Norman's paintings include whippets, greyhounds and lurchers!
