Year 1 - Aliens

Over the past few weeks the children have been reading lots of fictional texts about aliens (Aliens Love Underpants/ Here Come the Aliens). We have spent lots of time working on adjectives, beginning with feeling lots of objects/ tasting different foods to think of describing words. We then used our word bank  to describe our class aliens. The children have identified rhyming words in texts and created their own rhyming sentences. Finally, all of our lovely ideas were displayed in our classrooms around our alien.

FS2 - Apples

This week FS2 have been busy weighing the apples that have been collected from the school grounds. The children have used lots of fantastic mathematical language exploring heavier and  lighter and seeing if they could get the scales to balance.

Later in the week some of the children used apples to make delicious crumble for snack. Yummy! It was delicious!

FS1 - Dinosaurs

Our first topic in Nursery this half term is Dinosaurs. We have been trying very hard to remember their correct names and the different parts of their bodies. The children thoroughly enjoy being creative and today have carefully designed their own dinosaur; they chose to make a stripy or spotty dinosaur. We also are making dinosaur skeletons for a display inside Nursery.

Year 5 - Greek Vases

Following the children's Greek vase designs, this week the Y5 children carefully sculpted their Greek vases out of air-drying clay.  We are now waiting for them to dry before we can apply the base coat and decorate them with our chosen fables.  During Golden Time , groups of children worked on a challenge to recreate 'The Parthenon' out of surplus clay - they had only 30 minutes!  This tested their ability to work as part of a team and under pressure! Well done Y5!
