Year 4 recently visited Cote Ghyll at Osmotherley for their residential. They took part in a range of activities whilst there. These included mountain biking, canoeing, waterfall abseil, geocaching, orienteering, shelter building, bushcraft, village quiz, bow making and archery. On their return, some of the children wrote a recount of their time away with school.

Year 3 - The Romans
Year 3 have been carrying out lots of research about the Romans this term. This has involved researching Roman soldiers, looking at what the Romans did for entertainment and leisure activities, Roman Gods and Goddesses and finding out about why the Romans invaded Britain. We have also been reading the story about Romulus and Remus in English lessons and the children have written some excellent character descriptions using amazing adjectives and super similes. One homework task was to create a Roman mosaic which have been proudly displayed in our Year 3 area!

Year 2 - The Little Red Hen
We have been reading the traditional story 'The Little Red Hen'. The children have looked carefully at the different characters in the story and, in groups of four, recreated the story in front of their peers. We used expanded noun phrases to describe the different characters, and for our final piece we recreated the story with a new title and four new characters.

Year 1 - Shabbat
This week the children have been learning about the Jewish tradition Shabbat during RE.
They began by discussing their own traditions in circle time and decorated paper plates with their own traditions, lots of us have fish and chip Fridays! The children have learnt lots of new vocabulary and used this in their writing. The children labelled pictures of the special items included in Shabbat.
Finally, we had a Shabbat meal where we ate hallot bread and drank wine (AKA bread and blackcurrant juice)!
