Street Child
Silently,
Jordan swept through the
gloomy streets of London
dodging other children and thieves.
Trying to get a pie, he hid in the shadows. The Iron horses hooves cracked the air. Smelling the smoke from the work house
chimneys, he almost collapsed.
Royal-like carrages commanded the muddy snow to attack him with the
freezing elements. He could taste the
pie now, a soft stake pie. The sight of
people gambling was truly tempting for Jordan to gain more money but he was
nearing the pie shop now so he made the right decision by not gambling.
The
smell of the pie shop drifted towards Jordan. It smelt revolutionary as though he could
reach out and grab it. Entering the warm
atmosphere, the ladie behind the counter told him to clear off. “I have come to
buy a pie.” Jordan
whispered.
“What?
Speak up boy,” she said.
“I
want to buy a pie,” he replied. Jordan did not
have enuf for a juicey suculant pie with extra gravy. He left the store depressed.
Around
the corner, there was a gambling den. He
decided to give gambling a try. He could
win some more money. The man, who owned
the gambling den, looked very wealthy he wore a dark leather coat, leather
shoes and even leather trousers. Jordan’s number
was number fourty six. “NUMBER FOURTY
SIX PLEASE,” yelled the man in leather, “You have won thirty shillings, be very
careful with it make it count and don’t let the thieves get it,” he called down
the slippery street.
The
wind wistled wildly through Jordan’s ears while he sprinted back home wielding
the thirty shillings. He burst threw the
door panting with the money. “I HAVE WON THIRTY SHILLINGS,” Jordan sang.
Nathan and Josh his brothers, jumped up and hugged him tight. His mother said he was a very lucky boy to
win that much but then the knock of the landlord came shattering the air. They gladly told him they could pay this
time.. Jordan told him the whole story and
he agreed with his mother he was very lucky indeed.
